Paradise found!

By Simone S, 4th Feb 2017

White sand beaches, lovely people, no internet & nothing more to do than surf all day long, this was the perfect surf trip! Roy & Yenny made sure we had everything we wanted including 3 amazing meals each day. We’ll be returning that’s for sure!

Thumbs up!

By Larry Seymour, 18th May 2017

We stayed with Simeulue Surf Lodges for the entire month of May and weren’t disappointed. The waves pumped, the food was great and Yenny and Roy were very welcoming. Would highly recommend this camp to anyone.

Great waves and great food!

Thanks to Roy, Yenny and Dave for a fantastic time. Expectations were exceeded in every way. Dylan’s is a great wave and there’s some other fun set-ups not so far away. Awesome trip for an easy adventure! Yeeew, Aaron.

Dylans Right

Guests staying at Simeulue Surf Lodges are just a 3 minute stroll from Dylan’s right. For those wanting to explore the island, guests have free access to the camps scooters and will have a helping hand thanks to our surf guides. Around 12 named waves can be found using the coastal road within an hour’s drive from the camp. Some other waves can also be reached by boat that can be easily chartered whilst staying at the camp.

Simeulue is technically part of Aceh with nearly all of its population being Sunni Muslims. Although extremely friendly, they do expect their beliefs to be considered. The main things to know prior to travel is that women are recommended to dress modestly, and to avoid wearing low plunge tops, bikinis, mini shorts or mini skirts. Most women who visit simply wear t-shirts with sarongs or t-shirts and casual loose summer pants/knee length shorts/knee length dresses and wear a t-shirt/rash with board shorts when they go for a surf. Girls can wear bikinis within the camps grounds as well as the outer islands when they surf but be prepared for a lot of staring by the boat men. That said, the people are very relaxed in Simeulue and girls are free to ride around alone without feeling intimidated. The second thing to consider is that alcohol is generally not sold on the islands other than at the camps where beer is available. Overall, its a very warm and welcoming island much like the rest of Sumatra.
