Daily transport isn’t included in the price but is always available on arrival.
The surf region stretches around 50 miles and is accessed by a long twisting road that takes about 1.5 hours to reach all the surf breaks.
Motor Bikes with surfboard rack are typically around $10 / day depending on availability and length of rental.
Car hire with driver is usually around $40 / day. But of course pricing can vary from driver to driver.
Please note fuel will be additional but is relatively cheap in the region.
Sumatra Surf Resort is the only camp in South Sumatra to offer affordable and professional surf lessons. Famed for its perfect waves and white sandy beaches it’s the perfect place to learn to surf with your friends.
5 day and 7 day beginner packages are available.
Lessons are USD 30 per person for a 1.5 hr lesson.
Each lesson includes:
* Qualified Instructor
* Surfboard rental
* Rash vest and leash
* Lesson theory & practical lesson
* Transport to/from the beach

Guests will be taken by car to one of the local beaches for each lesson about 15 minutes from the camp. The white sand beach is tucked away from the bigger swells and is the perfect place to learn to surf. Standard lesson times will usually be early morning as well as a second mid afternoon session. Lessons will include surf theory such as water safety, how to read the surf, surf etiquette, picking a spot etc before paddling out. Beginners will also learn techniques such as duck diving, taking off and of course standing up!
Groups are limited to 8 people so you get plenty of individual attention!
If you’d like to soak up some of the local culture and would like to explore this incredible area, there are plenty of activities that we can organise for you including;
* Visiting the local village of Krui and its local markets
* Pulau Pisang (banana island) – tranquil and stunning and also has great surf!
* Day trip to the volcanic Lake Ranau and its hot springs
* River canoe trips
* Jungle treks & elephant rides
* Snorkelling & fishing (rental available, but best to bring your own)
Please remember that most of these activities are run by the locals and can only be arranged on arrival. At least 24 hours notice is needed to confirm availability and pricing.
Guests staying at Sumatra Surf Resort will have easy access to the regions premier wave, Ujung Bocur. Although views of the line-up from your bungalows aren't possible, you're never too far from the lookout tower that gives a pretty good view of the wave. The wave itself is just a short 5 minute walk away.
As soon as you've checked in, you're free to surf! Most guests prefer to spend most of their time surfing Ujung Bocur, but others prefer to mix it up and also surf elsewhere. The staff can always rent you a motor bike (approx $5/day with rack) and give you directions to the other waves.
For the beginners please be sure to let us know if you require board hire or any lessons. Sumatra Surf Resort is the only surf camp in South Sumatra that offers qualified surf instruction.
Detailed information for all the surf breaks can be found in the destination's section of the site within the Krui, South Sumatra pages.

Price: USD$ 100 pp each way
* Private a/c vehicle
* Up to 4 guests (with surfboards & baggage)
* Pick-up and drop off anytime
* Approx 6 hour journey time
Please note: We don’t advise taking the bus as it’s a longer journey, only runs at set times, is uncomfortable and generally only gets you within 45 mins of where the camps are located.
There is also a flight service from TKG to Krui - but at the moment is proving unreliable and tricky when taking surfboards.
Your transfers in detail:
Bandar Lampung Airport to the camp
