Krui Surf Camp offers much more than just surf tours.
Guests can join wildlife preservation activities, tiger tracking, rhino research, elephant excursions, bird watching and much more. We work with wildlife conservation organisations and the department of forestry in protecting the areas rare and endangered wildlife. We also have a close relationship with the west Lampung turtle conservation centre operating on the beaches south of Krui where the turtles all nest. We can arrange jungle tours in the national park to hidden waterfalls in the Bukit Barisan Mountains.
Other activities include:
Visiting the local village of Krui
Pulau Pisang (banana island) – also has great surf!
Excursion to Lake Ranau the second largest lake on Sumatra
River boat trips
Snorkelling, spear fishing & fishing
Various local sheltered reefs are fun for snorkelling and spear fishing. It’s also possible to find fish in the region with Spanish mackerel, Tuna & Marlin as potential catches. GT’s & Snapper lurk on the deeper reefs too. Local boats are available for hire. Guests need to you bring all their own gear
Guests staying at Krui Surf Camp will have direct access to the half a dozen or so waves in the town of Krui. These are all within a 5 minute motorbike ride. Although the waves are typically a little smaller than the more exposed reefs breaks like Ujung Bocur (30 mins to the south), guests can expect surf in the head high range between April to September.
Once you've checked in, you're free to surf! Guests can rent a motor bike (approx $5/day with rack) & Zane (the camps owner) will be happy to direct you to the regions other surf spots.
Detailed information for all the surf breaks can be found in the destination's section of the site within the Krui, South Sumatra pages.

Please note: We don't advise taking the bus as it’s a longer journey, only runs at set times, is uncomfortable and generally only gets you within 45 mins of where the camps are located.
There is also a flight service from TKG to Krui - but at the moment is proving unreliable and tricky when taking surfboards.
