Guests can reach the resort from Padang four days a week, making it one of the most accessible destinations in the region.

ALOITA RESORT

If guests are in the mood for a social experience, Aloita’s stunning open-air restaurant offers a perfect setting to enjoy a meal and reflect on the day’s adventures.

As the heart of the resort, the restaurant overlooks the beach and the serene, crystal-clear waters on the island’s east side. The spacious, open-plan layout features large, comfortable couches, a beachside deck, a separate bar area, and a snack & drinks menu, all complemented by relaxing music.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet-style, offering a variety of healthy and delicious options. Vegetarian options are available, and with some of the resort's owners being Italian, great care and pride go into preparing the daily meals.

Guests can also choose to eat their meals at Aloita Resort if they choose to (included in your Sunset Villa package)

Surfer Package - included

As part of the Sunset Villa package, guests enjoy daily trips to the surf aboard a private boat with captain - just complete flexibility to surf whenever and wherever you like.

There’s around 9 waves (mainly lefts) that are within 5-20 minutes from Sunset Villas.

While the immediate area may not have as many waves as Playgrounds, it offers a great variety of lefts and rights with varying levels of intensity. There’s truly something for everyone, including beginners, with a spot just a short walk from the resort—something rare in the Mentawai Islands. Additionally, the area is much less crowded than the more famous surf spots in the Mentawai chain, giving guests a better chance to catch more waves.

Tikus (above) is just a just a 10 minute speedboat ride from Sunset Villa and is ideal for beginners.

The crown jewel of the region is Telescopes (above) thats just a 15-20 minute speedboat ride away.

Guests need to fly into Padang Airport (PDG), West Sumatra 

We recommend using www.kayak.com and flying into Jakarta, Indonesia.

From Jakarta, there are over a dozen flights each day that fly into Padang, from airlines such as Garuda Airlines (always recommended), Batik & Citilink. Avoid Lion Air when possible.

It’s also possible to fly to Padang via Kuala Lumpur although (only 2 flights each day) or via Singapore although there are usually no direct flights to Padang. However, from Singapore you can also fly directly to Padang via Batam. In general, we recommend Jakarta is the most convenient and reliable way to reach Padang.

Please note, on average a standard shortboard costs around IDR 200k to 500k “per board”, per domestic flight, paid in IDR cash at the counter.

Note that if you book with Garuda, your board bag will be free up to 20-40kg’s depending on your ticket.

Sunset Villa & Aloita Resort offers an ALL-IN transfer package from the airport in Padang to the villa and back.

This includes all transfers from the airport to your hotel and to the harbor the following morning. It also includes the Mentawai Fast ferry ticket, 15 Kg luggage allowance, 15 Kg board bag allowance (1 piece) and porters. it also includes the 15 minute speedboat ride from the harbor in the Mentawais to the villa.

Padang Airport (PDG)

Upon arrival at Padang’s Minangkabau International Airport, you will be greeted by a staff member with pre-arranged transport and you'll be taken to your hotel. From this point they will help with any pre-departure needs, like accessing money or where to eat.

Padang Hotel (extra cost)

Note: All guests will need to spend their first night and last night in Padang. That said, hotels are very affordable and even the best hotels are around $60 for 2 guests including breakfast. We suggest staying at the following hotels: ZHM, Santika, Mercure & D'Oxville hotel. Check booking.com for further details. 

Mentawai Fast Ferry

You'll be collected from your hotel and taken to the ferry port the next morning around 6.00am. The port is very close to where the hotels are found - it's just a short 5-10 minute taxi ride.

Padang – Tua Pejat: Monday, depart 07.00am
Padang – Tua Pejat: Wednesday, depart 07.00am
Padang – Tua Pejat: Friday, depart 07.00am
Padang – Tua Pejat: Sunday, depart 10.00am

Tua Pejat – Padang: Monday depart 15.00pm
Tua Pejat – Padang: Wednesday depart 15.00pm
Tua Pejat – Padang: Friday depart 15.00pm

The Ferry crossing time takes around 3 to 4 hours. Guests will arrive at Tua Pejat (Mentawai Port) around 10:15am, where a staff member will be waiting to transfer all the baggage to the speedboat and take you to Sunset Villa, arriving around 10.45am. 

Note: Crossing times are subject to weather conditions and delays can happen.

On return, guests will depart the resort after lunch (with the speedboat) to catch the Ferry at 15.00pm. The arrival time at Padang will be approx. 6.15pm. A staff member will transfer you to your hotel as well as the airport the next morning. (Hotel and meals in Padang are not included.)

Indonesian transport is renowned for being erratic, with this in mind delays and re-scheduling are an everyday reality concerning public transportation. We will do our best to get you where you need to be asap, but take no responsibility for delays or cancellations due to external circumstances.
