Simeulue Surf House is a located just a stones throw from the popular surf break of Dylan’s Right, a legitimate world class right hander.
Located in between Simeulue Surf Lodges & Salt Surf Camp, this rustic but cosy camp offers 4 large twin share bedrooms as well as 6 new bungalows that were also built next to the main house in 2017. There's also a very large communal deck that provides the perfect hangout to exchange stories of the day’s sessions or just to take in one of Simeulue's breathtaking sunsets.
Guests can see the very start of the wave (Dylan's) from the camp and its literally a 3 minute walk to the paddle out spot. It's as well located as any of the camps on the point - except that of Salt which is also next door. But Salt is double the price! In terms of value, its very hard to beat.
The camp is owned by a warm, and friendly local lady called Nanik. She's been in the hospitality industry (at least on Simeulue) for many years, and certainly knows how to look after her guests. Expect great service and genuine and welcoming smile.
Simeulue Surf House has 4 x twin share "rooms" & 6 x twin share "bungalows" available for its guests.
The main building offers four big spacious rooms each measuring 24m2 with high ceilings, each with 2 single beds and an option to put a third bed on request.
Each room comes complete with mosquito net, fan and bed linen.
Next door to the main house are 6 bungalows (newly constructed in 2017) with private bathrooms.
At the front of the house there is a large terrace of 64m2, the perfect place to relax in a hammock, have a beer, and take in one of Simeulue’s incredible sunsets.
At the rear of the property is the shower house that has two showers and two toilets. There are also two additional outside showers.
Included in the daily rate:
* Private Bungalow (sleeping 1-2 guests) or Private Room
* Hot water shower
* 3 meals a day
* Unlimited purified drinking water
* Tea & coffee
* Airport pick-up/drop-off
* 4G WiFi internet (you just need to buy a SIM card)
All other snacks and drinks are charged extra
2 of the private bungalows as well as the main house to the right
Breakfast will be ready whenever you wake up and lunch will be served when you’re resting in between surfs. The majority of the food is fresh & local Indonesian produce, but the girls can make some really tasty western dishes too. Dinner is usually served around sunset.
Included in the price:
- 3 large, healthy delicious meals are served each day
- Unlimited purified Water, tea & coffee
Not included in the price:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Soft drinks
- Additional snack bar menu
Guests staying at Simeulue Surf House are just a short 3 minute stroll from Dylan’s right. Guests can easily rent a motorbike (with surfboard racks) during their stay to explore the relatively untouched coastline. Pricing is around IDR 90,000 / day
Guests are also a 45 minute boat ride from Pulau Tapah where one of the regions best waves is found (T-Bags). There is also an incredible beach to explore on the neighbouring island. The boat will collect the guests from a small beach just 100 meters from the camp.
Simeulue is technically part of Aceh with nearly all of its population being Sunni Muslims. Although extremely friendly, they do expect their beliefs to be considered. The main things to know prior to travel is that women are recommended to dress modestly, and to avoid wearing low plunge tops, bikinis, mini shorts or mini skirts. Most women who visit simply wear t-shirts with sarongs or t-shirts and casual loose summer pants/knee length shorts/knee length dresses and wear a t-shirt/rash with board shorts when they go for a surf. Girls can wear bikinis within the camps grounds as well as the outer islands when they surf but be prepared for a lot of staring by the boat men. That said, the people are very relaxed in Simeulue and girls are free to ride around alone without feeling intimidated. The second thing to consider is that alcohol is generally not sold on the islands other than at the camps where beer is available. Overall, its a very warm and welcoming island much like the rest of Sumatra.

Simeulue is more than Dylan’s Right. But that said, it’s a great wave. Go and explore the coast and find some hidden gems – but make sure you stay with Nanik as you’ll be well looked after.
