Trip Information
The “many” islands, lie off the west coast of Northern Sumatra, nestled between the island of Nias to the south and south east of Simeulue, to the North. These sparsely inhabited islands are home to world class waves including “Treasure Island” as well as a wave dense cluster of breaks, found in the “Bay of Plenty”. And in similar fashion to its neighbouring archipelagos, perfect waves break on its shores with extreme frequency. Located just above the equator, winds aregenerally light year round.
The best time of year to surf “The Banyaks” is during the dry season, which can be anytime from late March to early November, when the Indian Ocean produces its most consistent groundswells.
As a rule, the surf is suited more for intermediate to experienced riders. They will certainly take more from the long trip to the region. And although the area boasts 100’s of dreamy set-ups, most unload onto sharp coral reef ready to dish out a suitable punishment given half a chance. This is primarily the reason we dont encourage learners or even progressing beginners to the area.
That said, with so many waves to choose from, intermediates can still ride the waves of theirlives, without too much risk. As for the advanced surfer – one trip will result in many more to follow.
Detailed information for all the surf breaks can be found in the Banyak Islands destination's section of the site:
* Surf Breaks - Banyak Islands.

Louis, Newcastle
The Dream provided a Epic Trip with amazing waves, barrels and great food. Pierre, the captain was on point with finding the best waves possible. The boat had everything we needed, plenty of space and a great crew. I highly recommend booking a trip with the Dream. I will be coming back for sure! Louis Newcastle, Australia
Todd, Bronte
Louis is the guy who booked the trip. I'm Todd. Lord of the mac. Trevor is the sickest c**t I've met. Trevor and his island of goodies, more than satisfied this deviants needs of addiction. If we were in Byron his name would be Lord Trevor. Lamb of Trevor. And he would take away the sins of your pull backs. Have mercy on you. The sun was shining and the weather was sweet and I want Saint Pierre to know he is an Angel too. He's an angle too. Todd 11 stars out of 6. Bronte Reef, Sydney

Superb boat. The Dream is literally a dream, plenty of space, full of mod cons and always a cold beer on hand. The skipper certainly delivered the goods. We all scored the waves of our lives. Great crew, always with a big smile on their faces! The crew are seasoned Indo's and really know what they are doing! Outstanding in every way.
