Accommodation

Deck
Stern Shaded Deck (1 of 3 decks)

At 105 feet, space certainly isn't a problem. In fact, Maki can technically accommodate 17 guests, but for optimum comfort levels and privacy, there is a limit for each trip of no more than 11 guests.

Maki boasts a spacious living room with 2 dining tables, open plan kitchen and TV, an external lounge to hang out and watch the surf, a sun deck with 8 day beds, and 5 cabins - 3 of them being en-suites.

Exterior space includes 3 large decks. The upper deck is the perfect "sunset" spot, the shaded back deck offers midday sun protection and there's a lower front deck too to stretch out or to find a quiet corner to yourself.

Accommodation includes:

- Fully air conditioned interior and guest cabins
5 guest cabins, 3 with ensuite bathroom (comfortably sleeping 11 guests):
6 toilets
- 6 showers
(+2 outdoor showers)
- 3 x exterior deck areas
(8 sun beds on upper deck)
Big indoor living room with 2 dining tables with flat screen TV
- Powerful Bluetooth speakers
- Large shaded board room dedicated to accommodate your boards, with direct access to the dinghy

The 5 sleeping cabins offer plenty of privacy and are detailed below;

Master ensuite
Master Ensuite (above)

The Master Ensuite features a queen sized bed, a table, a side couch and its own bathroom. Located on the stern of the vessel in the mid level, it offers a 270° view to the waves. It is the ultimate room for a couple or a young family seeking the best possible Mentawai experience.

Room 1
Room 1 (above)

Room 1 is a 5 person dorm with its own toilet. Located in the bottom level at the bow, it is the most basic room option, but still comfortable for a boat. Perfect for groups of friends who don’t mind sharing a space and having a laugh at night laying in bed, surfed out.

Room 2
Room 2 (above)

Room 2 features a double bed with a bunk single bed above it. It is located in the bottom level, close to the center of gravity. It doesn’t have a private bathroom but there is a bathroom next to the cabin. It suits couples or friends traveling together.

Room 3
Room 3 (above)

Room 3 has a double bed with a single bed above it. Besides its own bathroom, it also has more space than room 2 and a small desk with a mirror. Located at the bottom of the boat, next to room 2.

Room 4
Room 4 (above)

Room 4 also has a private en-suite bathroom as well as a double bed and a single bed above it. Located at the top level behind the captain's cabin. Definitely one of the best rooms.

There is also a small air conditioned room for the photographer and a large room at the stern dedicated to your surfboards so they don't get any sun. It also makes it easy for you to grab the one you want and jump onto the dinghy via the backdoor to the outboard sea level platform.

The Crew

Surf Guide
Marcelo (left) and Ian (right)

For each trip an experienced Western surf guide will be on hand, throughout your trip, to make sure you get the waves of your life.

Typically it will be either Ian Cosenza or Marcelo Pinto as your surf guide.

Ian is an accomplished waterman with loads of experience in heavy surf. He is one of the best in the world at tow-in and rescue, recently even a "WSL" world champion when he teamed up with Lucas Chumbo and Kai Lenny as second rescue. He is also well seasoned in Mentawai and loves nothing more than to get barreled. Ian hails from Rio de Janeiro but speaks Spanish, Portuguese, English and Bahasa.

Marcelo is also from Rio, they actually grew up together but in 2004, Marcelo moved to Australia when he was 20 where he spends his time between Australia and Indonesia. A likeable guy, Marcelo has a passion for guiding and can get on with any type of guest.

Maki also have 7 local staff in every trip. Namely the captain, the mechanic, the mechanic assistant, 2 dinghy/deckhand, the chef, the kitchen hand. They often help out in each other's roles as each of them can do virtually everything, with some exceptions of course.
