Mick O’Shea (skipper/surf guide):
At just 30 years old, Mick has been exploring and surfing throughout Indonesia since 2008. His deep love for the Mentawais, Telos, and Banyaks inspired him to leave Australia behind and pursue his dream lifestyle—surfing, sailing, and sharing the ocean with others aboard his own 115-foot schooner. A passionate fisherman as well, Mick upgraded his operation in recent years with a brand-new 7.2-metre speedboat powered by a 250hp Suzuki, perfect for surf exploration (and fishing trips).
Lee Olson (surf guide)
Lee has been surf guiding aboard Bintang since 2022 and can easily step up when Mick takes a back seat.
Trip Information
For all trips aboard Bintang, guests will be able to choose to visit either the Mentawai Islands (the whole region) – or a little further north to the Telo Islands. Late season trips are possible to the Banyak Islands.
If you’re a private group then you’ll get the option to choose which region. Small groups and single surfers must enquire as to which surf zone the charter will be heading to.

All surf zones offer a wide range of excellent waves, but its always best to check out our destinations pages as well as the surf breaks listed to get an idea of which region you’d prefer to travel to.
Detailed information for all the surf breaks can be found in the destination's section of the site within the Mentawai, Banyak & Telo pages.

Faultless surf trip. Occasional crowded line-up but overall very happy with the waves we scored. We used the GOEY day in day out too. Rooms, food, service all as expect. Big thanks to Mick and the crew!
