July 2018
Weather: Still plenty of sunny days with a mix of overcast periods. More storms passing through with some unsettled weather. Winds remained largely light and variable once any bad weather passed through.
Swell: If June was a good size, then July was massive. It produced one of the biggest swells of the decade as well as consistent surf in the double over head range.
Off shore days: Variable winds, largely favorable for all the waves. Some bad wind days due to poor weather but generally somewhere was off shore.
Best sessions: The focus tended to be on HT's which was a little more protected than Lances left whe the swell really hit. But some truly memorable days at the main spots. The biggest day never quite lived up to the hype but the days either side were big enough!
Crowd: Charter boats passed through as always this time of year but with such consistent surf, there really was no issue with crowds, even before and after the monster swell hit.

Lances left, July 2018
After thoughts: July was the biggest of the season. The swell was relentless. It was rare to have small days, with head high plus surf almost every day. With conditions like this, everyone got their share of waves and the stoke levels were high. A few days maxed everywhere out, but they never lasted long. August continues to produce the goods (map below) - the swell train keeps on giving! Check back next time!
